Pasta in Tomato Sauce

Pastas come in different sizes and shapes...and has different names. Some of them are Farfelle, Spirali (one which i have used here), Gnocchi, Tripolini, Penne, spaghetti, Macaroni etc... Now a days it comes in wheat also, which is more healthier.

These days, pasta has become one of the favourite dish among kids. I have not tried out many dishes with pasta, but my daughter once came back from school and insisted me to make pasta for her. At that time, i didn't have a pack of pasta and so promised her that next time i go for shopping, i will buy a pack. She happily agreed. Later, i bought a small pack of spirali pasta and made this dish. My daughter liked it a lot, me too ;) This pasta recipe is a simple one and tastes good with the tomato flavour.

Ingredients

To cook pasta:

1 cup Pasta
Water as required
Salt to taste
1 tsp Oil

Method
  • Boil water (about 2 - 3 cups) in a pan.
  • When it starts bubbling, add pasta, salt and oil. Mix well and let it simmer till the pasta becomes Al Dante (just cooked)
  • Once done, take it out from the water and keep aside.

Ingredients

To cook Tomatoes:

2 Tomato (large)
water as required

Method
  • Boil water in a pan.
  • Cut the eye of the tomatoes and cut a cross on the opposite side.
  • Put them in the boiling water and let it simmer for 3 - 4 minutes.
  • Drain the water and let it cool for sometime.
  • As the cut is made on the ends, it is easy to peel off the skin from the tomatoes.
  • Once it is peeled, cut into two and squeeze out the seeds from it.
  • Cut the tomatoes into small pieces. Keep this aside.

Ingredients

To make the pasta in tomato sauce:

1 Capsicum (finely chopped)
2 tbsp Olive oil
1 Onion (cut into cubes)
5 Garlic (crushed or finely chopped)
Cooked Tomatoes (preparation method mentioned above)
Cooked Pasta (preparation method mentioned above)
1 tbsp Olives (optional, finely chopped)
1/2 tbsp Black pepper powder
Salt to taste
1/2 tsp Oregano powder
1/2 cup Tomato sauce
2 tbsp grated Cheese

Method
  • Heat olive oil in a nonstick pan. Add onion and saute till it turns translucent.
  • Now add crushed garlic and saute for a minute.
  • Add capsicum and olives. Saute well.
  • Add black pepper powder, salt, oregano powder, tomato sauce and cooked tomatoes into it.
  • Mix well and let it simmer for about 1 minute.
  • Now add the cooked pasta and mix well so that the sauce gets nicely coated on them.
  • Let it simmer for 1 - 2 minutes, till the pasta gets all the flavours added in it.
  • Add grated cheese and turn off the heat. Mix well.
  • Serve it hot.

Note:
  1. If you feel that the pasta has become very dry, add little bit of water to get a saucy texture to the dish.
  2. Add any type of cheese like processed cheese or cheddar cheese. My daughter doesn't like cheese so i omitted it.
  3. You can add more vegetables to this pasta to make it more healthier.
  4. Usually, the tomato seeds are removed from the cooked tomatoes and is not used while making pastas. But i didn't remove it. I added it along with the cooked chopped tomatoes.
