Mushroom Manchurian (dry)

My elder daughter Nithya, simply loves mushrooms and chinese recipes. Once i surprised her with this dish. She was so happy and told me that iam a great cook and the dish is awesome. I was so happy to get this appreciation from my child.

You can also try this recipe and surprise your dear ones and see how they react. Iam sure it would be a positive response :)

Try it out and don't forget to post in your comments...

Ingredients

Onion (finely chopped) - 2 medium
Green chili (finely chopped) - 3 to 4
Button mushroom - 200 gms
Egg - 1
Maida - 2 tbsp
Cornflour - 1 tbsp
Garam masala powder - 1 tbsp
Salt to taste
Ginger garlic paste - 4 tsp
Tomato ketchup - 1 tbsp
Oil - 1 tbsp + for deep frying
Soy sauce - 2 tsp
Vinegar - 4 tsp
Spring onion (finely chopped) - 2 stalks

Method
  • Clean mushrooms and cut into bite size pieces.
  • Wash mushrooms in boiling water with little turmeric powder in it for 3 minutes. Drain out the water and keep it aside.
  • Break the egg and separate the egg white from the yolk. We will use the egg white for this recipe.
  • In a bowl take maida, cornflour and salt. Mix well. Now add the egg white and little water so as to make a sightly thick consistency batter.
  • Into this batter add the mushrooms and mix well so that each one of them is coated nicely with the batter.
  • Deep fry the mushrooms in hot oil till cooked and golden brown colour.
  • Once it is done, transfer it into a tissue paper. Keep this aside.
  • Heat little oil in a non stick pan and add onion. Add salt and when it is translucent, add ginger garlic paste and green chillies.
  • After sometime, add the fried mushrooms and mix well.
  • Now add the vinegar, soy sauce and garam masala. Mix well and let it cook for sometime.
  • Now add tomato ketchup and mix nicely and let it cook for approximately 5 minutes.
  • Take it off from heat and garnish it with chopped spring onion.
  • Serve it hot as a starter. Tastes really great.

Mushroom Manchurian (dry)

Normally, chinese dishes are garnished with spring onion. If you don't have spring onion, you can use coriander leaves. In either ways, the dish tastes amazing.
Thanks for visiting
Happy Cooking!!
