Steamed Vegetable Momos


Maida - 1 cup
Beans (finely chopped) - 10 nos
Carrot (finely chopped) - 1
Mushrooms (finely chopped) (optional) - 4 to 5
Spring onions (finely chopped) - 2
Cabbage (finely chopped) - 1/2 cup
Ginger (finely chopped) -1 inch
Green chilli (finely chopped) -1
Black pepper (crushed) - 8 to 10
Soy sauce- 1/2 tbsp
Oil -1 tsp
Salt to taste


1. Mix maida with some water and make a stiff dough.
2. Cover it with a damp cloth and set aside for 15 mins.
3. Heat little oil in a kadai and add chopped beans, carrot, mushrooms, cabbage, spring onion, ginger, green chilli, black pepper, soy sauce and salt.
4. Stir fry for some time.
5. Divide the dough into small balls and roll one by one into small thin discs.
6. Put a spoonful of the vegetable filling in the centre of each disc and bring the sides together to form a half moon shape. Press the sides firmly. After that bring the two sides together to form the shape as shown in the picture.
7. You can give any shape of your own choice.
8. Rub little oil on the momos, so that they remain moist.
9. In a steamer, place all the dumplings and steam it for about 10 to 15 mins until the momos are cooked.
10. Serve it hot with any sauce or your choice.

Quick and easy Sauce

1. Soy sauce - 2 tbsp
2. Vinegar - 1 tsp
3. Water - 4 tbsp
4. Salt to taste
5. Green chilli (finely chopped) -1

Mix all the above ingredients and a simple sauce is ready for momos.

Note: The vegetables can be either stir fried or even used raw for the filling.
