This is one of my husband's favourite snack. I learnt this recipe from my mom (MIL). This is a very simple and easy to prepare snack which can be enjoyed with a cup of tea or coffee.
A closer look.....
Ingredients
2 Raw Banana
1 cup Besan/Gram flour
2 tbsp. Rice flour
Salt to taste
3 tsp Red chilli powder
1 pinch Turmeric powder
1/2 tsp Carom seeds/Ajwain
1 pinch Asafoetida
1/2 tsp Baking powder
Oil for deep frying
Water as required
Method
- Peel the skin a bit and cut it into thin long or round pieces. (shown in the pic)
- Keep this aside.
- In a bowl, mix besan, rice flour, salt, red chilli powder, turmeric powder, carom seeds, asafoetida and baking powder with water to make a smooth paste - not thin nor thick.
- Heat oil in a kadai.
- When it is medium hot, dip each raw banana pieces in the batter and put them in the oil.
- When both the sides turn golden brown colour, transfer them on to a tissue paper.
- Serve it hot with any sauce of your choice.
* I usually take the quantity of the ingredients as per my taste. So you can always adjust the spices as per your taste*
