Chocolate Brownie

This was the first time i made a chocolate brownie. I had heard about it a lot, watched many videos, but never thought to make it by myself.

Recently, some visitors and one of my relative Ramya Vasudev asked me to post the recipe for it. That's how i ended up making this yummy and delicious cake. Its chewy, chocolaty and awesome. I don't have enough words to express about it.

Try it out by yourself and you will come to know... This recipe is specially posted for you...Ramya...

Comments and suggestions are welcome.

Chocolate Brownie

Ingredients

1 cup Maida/Refined flour
1 tsp Baking powder
2 Eggs
1 tsp Vanilla essence
1 cup Sugar (powdered)
100 gms Dark Cooking Chocolate
90 gms Butter
1/2 cup Walnut (chopped)

Method

  • In a bowl, sieve maida and baking powder. Keep this aside.
  • In another bowl, beat eggs with vanilla essence and sugar, till the sugar gets completely dissolved.
  • Melt chocolate with butter in an oven in microwave mode - High for 1 minute or use a double boiler to do it. Keep aside to cool. (chocolate melts very nicely in microwave oven)
  • Pre heat oven to 180 degree Celsius.
  • In the egg mixture, put the sieved maida and mix.
  • Now add the melted chocolate in it and mix nicely.
  • Add chopped walnuts. Mix well. (my daughter doesn't like nuts in cakes, so i did not add it)
  • Pour the cake batter in a greased bowl and place it in a pre heated oven for 45 minutes.
  • Test with a tooth pick whether it is done or not.
  • Transfer it into a wire rack and let it cool.
  • Once cooled, cut it into pieces and serve.

You can put a chocolate ganache or icing on the brownie and it would taste awesome. Check out for the Chocolate Ganache recipe here http://nimmyskitchen.blogspot.in/2012/11/chocolate-ganache.html

For using the chocolate ganache on cakes:

  • When the cake is completely cooled, keep the cake upside down.
  • Cut the cake into half, horizontally. Spread little sugar and water mixture on both the sliced cakes.
  • Keep one cake slice on the wire rack. Keep the wire rack on a plate. Take little chocolate ganache and spread on the top.
  • Now place the other slice on top of it. Pour the ganache on top of the cake and the chocolate will spread on its own. It will flow down the cake and as you have kept the plate underneath, the extra ganache will be collected in the plate. You can use it later.
  • If the sides are not covered with the ganache, spread it by using a knife or pallet knife.
  • Decorate the top of the cake using cherry or show your creativity.
  • Before serving, place it in the fridge for some time, so that the chocolate ganache will be set.
  • Cut and serve it.
