Chocolate Wheat Cake

As Maida is not good for health, i was trying to bake a cake using whole wheat flour or atta. Tried many recipes, but every time it was not baking fine. But this trial recipe turned out to be awesome. Very tasty and soft. I added instant coffee powder and it gave a distinct taste of coffee. I loved it a lot. But its optional.

You can definitely try this healthier option of baking cake by using Atta. Iam sure it will taste good. Kids would love it. If you want to make a bigger cake, double the quantity mentioned below.

Chocolate Wheat Cake

Ingredients

8 tbsp - Whole wheat flour (Atta)
10 tbsp - Sugar
1 tsp - Baking powder
4 tbsp - Coco powder (unsweetened)
Salt a pinch
2 - Egg (whisked)
6 tbsp - Milk
6 tbsp - Oil
6 tbsp - Chocolate chips (if you don't have chocolate chips, you can avoid this or you can break any chocolate bar and mix it)
4 tbsp - Walnuts, Almond (chopped)(optional)
1 tsp - Vanilla essence
1 tsp - Instant coffee powder (optional)

Method

  • In a bowl, add whole wheat flour, sugar, baking powder, coco powder, salt and instant coffee powder. Mix well.
  • Add egg, milk and oil. Mix well.
  • Add chocolate chips, chopped walnuts, almond and vanilla essence. Again mix well.
  • Pour the batter into a microwave safe bowl and put it in the microwave oven in microwave mode for 5 minutes - power high. Check in between by using a tooth pick, whether it is ready or not.
  • Once done, take it out from microwave and place it in a wire rack and give a standing time of 5 minutes.
  • Once cooled, turn upside down and transfer it into a plate.
  • Cut and serve.
