Honey Chilli Fish

Ingredients

Fish fillets (boneless) - 2
Maida - 2 tbsp
Cornflour - 1 tbsp
Salt to taste
Spring onion (green part, chopped) - 1
Garlic (finely chopped) - 1 tsp
Ginger (finely chopped) - 1 tsp
Fresh red chillies (if you dont have this, u can replace with green chillies) - 4 to 5
Red chilli paste - 1 tsp
Honey - 1 tbsp
Soy sauce - 1 tsp
Lemon juice - 1 tbsp
Oil - 1 tbsp + for deep frying

Method

1. Cut the fish fillets into small pieces. Transfer this into a bowl for marination. Add salt, lemon juice, red chilli paste. Mix well. To this add soy sauce, maida, cornflour and little water. Mix well and keep aside.
2. Heat oil for deep frying. Once it is hot, put the fish pieces one by one. Fry till it is crisp and golden brown colour.
3. In another pan, take 1 tbsp oil and into it add ginger and garlic. Let it change its colour a bit. In the mean time, take 1 tsp cornflour and mix with little water and keep this aside.
4. To the ginger and garlic, add fresh red chillies or green chillies (finely chopped). Add soy sauce, red chilli paste, lemon juice. Mix well and add little water. Season with salt to taste.
5. To this mixture add honey. Into this, put the fried fish pieces and mix well. Add the cornflour mixture which you had prepared earlier.
6. Toss well. And for garnish, add the chopped spring onion greens.
7. Serve it hot as a starter.

Method for making Red chilli paste

1. Soak the dry red chillies (Kashmiri red chilli) in little warm water for 5 to 10 minutes. Grind them well and the red chilli paste is ready.
2. Kashmiri red chillies are red in colour, but very mild.
